Tranquillity Farm is a 50 acre property set in the heart of the beautiful Central Drakensberg. Only a two hour drive from Durban and four hours from Johannesburg we invite you to come and experience the peace and tranquillity true country life has to offer. With breathtaking mountain views, meandering stream and abundant bird life you are guaranteed a relaxed country get away.

Our self catering cottages are ideal for couples looking for a quiet, romantic getaway as well as for families wanting to spend quality times together in a country environment. All units are private and offer views of the majestic Champagne Castle, Cathkin Peak and rolling farmlands of the Champagne Valley.

Our accommodation includes:

Wattle-For-Two is a luxury cottage suitable for two adults. It is set in a pretty and private garden - ideal for a romantic getaway. Relax and unwind on the spacious patio and take in the beautiful mountain views. The unit is tastefully decorated and offers everything for a comfortable stay including fireplace, DStv (please bring your own card), electric blankets, fully equipped kitchen, braai facilities etc. The bathroom offers true relaxation with a large corner bath, single vanity and spacious shower. Luxury toiletries and towels are provided.

Wattle Cottage has two bedrooms, one with queen-size bed and the other has two single beds. All beds have electric blankets. There is a stylish full bathroom as well as a separate toilet. The lounge has DStv (please bring your own card) and a lovely fireplace for those cold winter evenings and the kitchen is fully equipped. The veranda offers panoramic views of the Berg, comfortable veranda furniture and braai facilities. All linen, towels, toiletries, dishtowels etc are provided.

Barn Cottage was the original barn which has been converted into a homely retreat. Downstairs is a comfortable lounge with DStv (please bring your own card) and a fully equipped open plan kitchen. There are two bedrooms each with double bed and there is one full bathroom. Upstairs is a large loft room which sleeps four people with two extra slide out beds for another two. All beds have electric blankets. The veranda has a cosy fireplace in the corner, comfortable veranda furniture and braai facilities. As with all units, linen, towels, toiletries, dishtowels etc are provided.

DIRECTIONS TO: TRANQUILLITY FARM SELF CATERING COTTAGES DRIVING FROM JOHANNESBURG: A) Scenic Route: This route is not suitable in very bad weather. Johannesburg to Harrismith on N3. At Harrismith turn right onto the N5 towards BETHLEHEM/BLOEMFONTEIN. Proceed for about 5km, turn left onto R712 QWA-QWA/BERGVILLE road. Drive for about 10km. Turn left again on the BERGVILLE/OLIVIERSHOEK PASS (R74) road. Continue past Sterkfontein Dam, down Oliviershoek Pass, straight through Bergville and on to Winterton. At Winterton turn right onto the R600 Central Berg road which is directly opposite the Engen garage. Drive for about 14 km to the crossroad junction at Thokozisa. Cross straight over and continue for about 4 km. Turn right onto the D53 (board says Bell Park Dam, Cayley Lodge) Travel 2km. Turn right onto D277 and carry on straight for a further 2km (the tar road comes to an end with just a short piece of dirt road). Drive past Acorn Cottages gateway for a few meters and Tranquillity Farm sign will be on the right. B) Freeway Route: Jahannesburg to Van Reenen's Pass on the N3. Pass through the Tugela Toll Plaza which is at the bottom of Van Reenen's Pass. Continue approximately 14km to the R616 (Exit 230) BERGVILLE turn off, proceed left on the N11 towards Ladysmith for about 4km and turn right onto the R600 Spionkop/ Winterton Road. Travel along over the highway and past Spioenkop Lodge/ Nature Reserve. When you reach a T-Junction, turn left to Winterton. Take a Right over the railway line (R600) when you get into Winterton. This is directly opposite the Engen garage. Travel 14 km to the crossroad junction at Thokozisa. Cross straight over and continue for about 4 km. Turn right onto the D53 (board says Bell Park Dam, Cayley Lodge) Travel 2km. Turn right onto D277 and carry on straight for a further 2km (the tar road comes to an end with just a short piece of dirt road). Drive past Acorn Cottages gateway for a few meters and Tranquillity Farm sign will be on the right. DRIVING FROM DURBAN: Travel along the N3, past Pietermaritzburg and through Mooi River Toll Plaza . Keep driving straight and eventually you will pass Wagendrift Dam on your left. Not long after passing this dam take the Estcourt North Giants Castle (Exit 179) Turn left at the top of the glide-off and drive about 30km through Loskop. Please take care as there are a lot of animals roaming on this road particularly at night. You will then reach a crossroad with a large thatch building called Thokozisa. Turn left. This will be the R600. Travel for about 4km. Turn right onto the D53 (board says Bell Park Dam, Cayley Lodge) Travel 2km. Turn right onto D277 and carry on straight for a further 2km (the tar road comes to an end with just a short piece of dirt road) Carry on straight - Tranquillity Farm sign will be on the right.
