South Africa. Guests
can choose between our three types of en suite accommodation all with tea/coffee
making facilities.
All
rooms have oil and bathroom heaters. Limited undercover parking is also
available.
The guesthouse has a guest lounge with log fire place and stunning views
of the mountains, a lovely dining room, t.v. room and a cosy pub. (Your
hosts have a separate dwelling, ensuring your privacy.)
You will find that you do not need to walk more than 2 minutes from the
Guest House to find plenty of interesting art and craft. Next to the guest
house is a large Craft centre, and adjoining the farm is Ardmore Ceramic
Art Studio.
Ardmore
Guest Farm provides delicious farm-style cuisine. Included in the tariff,
is a 4 course lantern-lit dinner with complimentary wine (informal dress)
in the company of your hosts and other guests.
A traditional farmhouse breakfast is served on the verandah overlooking
Ardmore's lovely garden. Visitors may order drinks, light snacks and lunch
in the tea garden. Beer, wine and a limited selection of spirits are
available (guests are welcome to bring their own drinks). An own organic
vegetable garden provides fresh herbs and greens in season.
There are many activities in the valley, golf is popular and the valley boasts 2 golf courses – one 18 hole championship course and the other a 9 hole course. Also available is tennis, trout and bass fishing and for the more daring - white water rafting. Horse riders are spoilt for choice with 5 places to ride, one of them is in Spioenkop Game Park ( only 1/2 hour drive from the farm) where you ride amongst the giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and rhino or alternatively just take a leisurely drive through the game park Local places of interest include Anglo/Boer war battle field sites such as Spioenkop Battlefield and Winston Churchill's capture and ambush site.; bushman paintings, Drakensberg Boy's Choir, a weaving workshop and a falconry display centre, all just a short drive from Ardmore.
