The Berg House and Cottages - B&B and Self Catering accommodation at the Amphitheatre

The Berg House and Cottages, is a well situated destination at the Amphitheatre, only 3 hours from Johannesberg and Durban, and is in proximity to the Royal National Park. A destination offering self catering and B&B accommodation that guests love to return to.

Experience a mountain atmosphere with beautiful views, described as the 'IMAX VIEWS' of the Drakensberg. This private destination on a 1600 acre estate, enables you to restore the mind, body and soul. Relax and soak up the 270 degree views of the Drakensberg Escarpment. Our main feature being that of the famous AMPHITHEATRE, of which is part of the world heritage site. View the second highest waterfall in the world, during the summer. Gaze at the colorful sunsets. Enjoy an evening sitting around an open fire under the wonderful 'MILKY WAY', listening to the night sounds, jackal, owls and nightjars included.

Self Catering accommodation

Comfortable, rustic, stone and thatch dwellings. All with electricity, two cottages sleep 8, two sleep 2 guests .The 2 cottages consist of 4 bedrooms each, 2 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with toilets in each, 2 smaller cottages enjoy bathrooms ensuite, the 1 enjoys a queen size bed and bath(no shower), the other unit enjoys twin beds and a shower in the bathroom. All linen is provided, including cutlery and crockery. An open plan lounge and kitchen area, with an oven, stove and fridges. Log fire places, and a braai/barbeque facility.All the cottages have patio furniture. The Berghouse can accommodate 20 guests, all the units are self catered.

B&B accommodation

Dinner Bed & Breakfast/ Bed and Breakfast: served in a private dining room, catered for residents only.

We can accomodate up to 20 guests in 4 cottages.

Activities at the Berg House and Cottages

Activities include: hiking, horse riding (full moon night riding), fishing, fourwheel drive routes, mountain bike trails, bird watching, paraglide and hanglide take off site, river swim, tube and canoe, night drives with spot light or enjoy the lavender experience.

All the above activities can be enjoyed on site. Prices and availability on request.

Off the property activities include: golf, game view and houseboat trip, Sterkfontein dam activites, restaurants, pubs, Pizza tower, Hydro electric station and various historical routes.
