Top recommended Drakensberg Hikes

Worlds View. a 4 hour return hike starting from Giants Castle car park and ending with a stunning view of the high Drakensberg. What makes this hike especially attractive is its relative ease and the spectacular views. The Giants Castle Camp offers a lovely restaurant with a balcony for a beer or cup of tea afterwards.
Game Pass Shelter. 3 hour return hike with the emphasis being on Bushman Rock Art. Without any doubt Kamberg offers the best examples of Bushman Rock Art anywhere in the Drakensberg and ranks as one of the worlds most important rock art sites. This Kamberg Bushman Rock Art site offers clear insight into the symbolism of the bushman spiritual world with near to 100 paintings in vivid colours and in good condition. The guided tours offered by the local communities are of a high standard and the multimedia presentation before the walk makes this experience one of the Drakensberg highlights.
Tugela Gorge hike - A 22km hike which takes 8 hours return This is an example of hiking along a river course with views of the Amphitheatre. The first 5km is very easy but try to avoid walking along the road. The path via Tendele Camp is more interesting.
Sentinel Peak car park to the top of the amphitheatre via the chain ladder. 5 hour return hike. This is the only day hiking trail that will get you to the top of the Drakensberg escarpment in a reasonable day.
