Accommodation comprises hotel rooms, a suite and chalets.
Built in 1965 and renovated in 1997, the Protea Hotel Golden Gate
Mountain Resort offers 34 standard hotel rooms and 34 two-bedroomed
self-catering chalets also available.

The suite has a mini-bar and fridge, while the chalets are fully equipped
for self-catering.

Being
in a National Park, the Protea Hotel Golden Gate Mountain Resort offers a
host of activities and leisure facilities including hiking and nature trails,
game viewing and lookout points.
Facilities at the Protea Hotel Golden Gate Mountain Resort include a
restaurant and bar, coffee shop and curio shop. Conference and banqueting
facilities cater for up to 150 GUESTS.
Golden Gate Hotel Attractions
The
Golden Gate National Park is spread over some 11 600 hectares of highland
habitat, providing a home to a variety of mammals such as Burchell`s zebra,
eland, oribi, springbok and black wildebeest. Several bird species can be
found here, including the rare bald ibis which breed on ledges in the
sandstone cliffs, as well as the rare bearded vulture.
Adventure and outdoor activities are available, including:
- a two day/one night hike on the Rhebok Trail
- nature trails, varying from one to five hours
- game viewing
- horse riding
- abseiling
- fly fishing
- a bird hide at the Gladstone Dam
Places of interest in the area include Zuluhoek lookout point, the Oribi
Basin, Generaalskop viewpoint (third highest point in the park) and the
impressive Brandwag rock formation.
