Hannic's Retreat offers a three bedroom home with the main bedroom being
full en suite which is heated. There is a second full heated bathroom with a
separate toilet. Two of the bedrooms have queen size extra long double beds
with wooden cottage pane doors leading onto the veranda while the third
bedroom has two three quarter beds. All beds have electric blankets and each
bedroom has under carpet heating.
The lounge, dinning room and kitchen are open plan with a gas fired log
fireplace and DStv in the lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped for six
people and includes a combination fridge/freezer, a microwave oven as well
as a stove having four plates and an oven. If required, at an additional fee
service can be provided. Adjacent to the lounge is a lock up garage and a
laundry.
Double wooden cottage pane doors lead from the lounge onto the veranda,
which also serves as an entertainment/relaxing area with braai facilities.
While having sun downers one can enjoy the view of the mountain where
Titanic rock is situated.
The centre of the village is a seven minute stroll away where one will
find a number of art galleries, a variety of shops offering a wide range of
interior décor and souvenirs The village also offers a number of restaurants
for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Visitors have a variety of activities available and they include, horse
ridding, quad biking, hiking, trout fishing, golf, abseiling, mountain
trails and nature reserve which also has some bushman paintings. In the
winter there is also the possibility that snow may be seen on the high lying
areas.
Alternatively
one can go on scenic drives to Golden Gate (17km), Fouriesburg
(30km) where the asparagus festival is held (approximately in September)
and Ficksburg
where the cherry festival is held in November. Clarens is also an ideal
stop over en route to Lesotho,
the Drakensberg
and Sani pass.
Last but not least the village with its friendly people offer an ideal
country laid back environment for a break away from the hustle and bustle of
the metropolitan centres.
