Maluti Mountain Lodge - B&B accommodation in Clarens - Eastern Free State

Set in the magnificent Maluti Mountains of the Eastern Free State is Maluti Mountain Lodge. The Clarens farmers grow some of the country's finest export fresh produce - and the herb garden on the premises allows the chefs to prepare magnificent robust country fare which has become legendary in the area. In the winter months, venison, warthog, guinea fowl, wild duck and pheasant, make and exiting addition to the menu.

Accommodation

The Maluti Mountain Lodge offers accommodation in 10 standard rooms, 6 luxury rooms, 4 thatched rondawels and 4 luxury suites for families - all en suite. The honeymoon suite is a really special place for all that all important and romantic night.

All the rooms have M-Net, tea and coffee making facilities, with heaters and electric blankets for the cold winter months, Balconies on each of the rooms provide the opportunity to relax at sundown in the summer months. Most of the rooms have breathtaking views of the mountains - and the Lodge's gardens are the perfect place for children to explore and play in. The swimming pool and lapa offer a wonderful setting for braais and family fun. Pets within reason, are most welcome.

Activities

The immediate area offers a wide range of outdoor and sporting facilities such as golf, tennis, squash, bowls, hiking, horseback riding, trout fishing, clay pigeon shooting, 4 x 4 trails, grey wing and bird hunting in season. There are various arts and crafts shops in the village. The sites of dinosaur remains and bushmen paintings are also places of interest well worth visiting.

Conference Venue

The Maluti Mountain Lodge offers two of the finest conference venues, the Duck and Hound Conference Venue for smaller groups and the Martie Lotz Conference Centre, for bigger groups. The facilities can cater for up to 200 day delegates and up to 50 overnight delegates. All the equipment necessary to run a professional and efficient conference is available as well as breakaway facilities.

Delegates are given the exclusive use of the bar facilities housed within the Duck and Hound. The venues are equipped with air conditioning and the Duck and Hound has a fireplace for the winter. Meals are served in the Highland Grill or in the lapa, depending on the number of delegates.

The Maluti Mountain Lodge will cater for any reasonable requests to meet the demands and requirements of the conference clients. The staff will arrange their extra curricula activities including golf, wing shooting, hiking, game drives, river and dam trout fishing. Both brown and rainbow trout are to be found near the Maluti Lodge.

The above venues are also available for private functions such as weddings, engagements, company functions, product launches and parties.
