The B&B is also a place to stroll and to gaze, a place of peace, of quiet reflection, a place to browse, listen to music, to eat and to sleep and a place to launch into exploring one of South Africa's most thrilling areas. The guest house and units overlook the Lions River, which meanders on through the Lidgetton Valley, on its way to Midmar Dam, some kilometres away. A path winds down the hill through tall trees, blossoms and bush to the paddock below, the dam on one side and along the rushing river.
The thatched accommodation comprises four double rooms with en-suite bathrooms, and a cottage with two double bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms; all individually decorated. All rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities, heaters and a hair drier. TV's available on request for SA TV in rooms. DSTV programs can be viewed in our private lounge. Other services offered include laundry, telephone, fax, email and computer. Each room has its own separate entrance; no scurrying across passages to
the bathroom. B&B / guest house accommodation offered at Pleasant PlacesNumber 7So named because our house in Johannesburg was No. 7 and, including our private bedroom, we have 7 bedrooms. This intimate room has a panoramic view across the valley from the bed or private patio. Guests staying in this room are usually late in for breakfast as it is difficult to get out of bed and lose the view. The Room with a ViewA large hexagonal-shaped room with deep terracotta-coloured walls, private patio with a magnificent view over the river below and valley beyond; even the loo has a view! The Camellia RoomNamed after the beautiful Camellia bushes outside the entrance. It has a large bay window in which you can sit, relax and enjoy the beauty of the garden or one can enter the garden via the recently installed French doors. The CottageOur "Family Unit"; it is a "Cottage" in that it is two bed roomed and has a lobby-lounge with a sofa and TV. Each bedroom has its own entrance and ablution facilities. There is a small private garden section for added privacy. There are NO self-catering facilities in The Cottage. Walking trails at Pleasant Places
John will help you select routes to suit your personal or family requirements. Discover some of the most beautiful, interesting, exclusive and undiscovered areas of the Natal Midlands on foot without having to tote a backpack on your back; carry only your binoculars, camera, water bottle, sun block and your cell phone! Enjoy being in this glorious part of South Africa Numbers are restricted to a maximum of 12 per group and you will rarely find others along your walk. Picnic lunches dropped off at chosen spots for you to enjoy and us to clear up later. Pleasant Places will arrange to collect you at suitable points, should you tire prematurely. Clear maps provided, showing distances and time required to complete each section. All trails clearly marked. Notes on places of historical significance, geology, flora and fauna will be given to you. A knowledgeable guide is available to accompany you.
