Spionkop Nature Reserve is administered by Ezemvelo / KZN Wildlike. Spionkop game reserve is well stocked with a large variety of antelope, rhino, zebra, giraffe etc.  Spionkop is steeped in Boer war history being one of the bloodiest and most senseless battles of that war.

Spionkop Game ReserveWater sport & picnics are permitted and permits are obtained through the Parks Board. Spionkop dam is also a favourite for waters sports and fishing.

Spionkop Battlefield

Spionkop was  the scene of fierce fighting between the British and Boers. British General Redvers Buller, sent to relieve Ladysmith from Boer siege, lost 340 soldiers, had 1000 wounded and a further 198 taken prisoner by the Boers. This is a self-guided tour.
